Mileposts are measured from Columbus Union Station and are noted as per Columbus Division Timetable #14, dated 1950.04.30. Thanks to Steve Long for passing this information along.

Main Line -- Columbus to Chicago

Starts Union Station in Columbus.

OLENTANGY, ?Columbus, O., M.P. 1.0

MOUNDS, ?, O., M.P. 6.1

MILFORD CENTRE, Milford Center, O., M.P. 28.0

URBANA, Urbana, O., M.P. 46.8

RICE, ?, O., M.P. 48.0

PIQUA CROSSING, Piqua, O., M.P. 72.2

EAST BRADFORD, ?Bradford, O., M.P. 81.2

BRADFORD [??], Bradford, O., M.P. 83.1

Ref ?, Sheet ..., 19..; ...x..., ...K, 200 dpi

Here the main line split. One line, the Chicago main, went slightly more northwest, heading nearly straight at Logansport, Ind. The other line, the Bradford--New Paris main, went west, then southwest, to rejoin the main line to Indianapolis.

The tracks are now (1998) gone, and a city park with a caboose is in the "Y" between where the 2 lines were. The brick tower still stands, as do 2 ancillary buildings (engine sheds?).

MEEKER [??], Meeker, O., M.P. 95.2

Ref 11, Sheet 1, 1947 2100x1144, 37K, 200 dpi

PRR crosses a Big Four branch. (Is this the same one that crosses the Fort Wayne at, is it Delphos or Van Wert?). MEEKER is listed in the 19__ timetable as being an interlocking only.

UNION CITY [??], Union City, O./Ind., M.P. 104.0

Ref 11, Sheet 2, 1944 2201x1150, 49K, 200 dpi

PRR crosses the Big Four main line from Cleveland/Marion to Indianapolis, and the B&O comes alongside temporarily. Cropping on this map is not ideal because the diagram was extended (presumably) to include the dragging equipment detectors.

RIDGEVILLE, Ridgeville Ind., M.P. 117.5

Crossing of the GR&I.

WEST RIDGEVILLE, ?Ridgeville Ind., M.P. 118.3

RED KEY [??], Red Key, Ind., M.P. 125.1

Ref 11, Sheet 4, 1942; 2091x1184, 49K, 200 dpi

Crossing of the PRR and a Nickel Plate line from ?Lima to Muncie and ?Indianapolis.

KENT, ?, Ind., M.P. 157.2

The PRR now proceeds through Hardford City, Marion (157.6), and Converse (169.0). The last of these is Junction of a PRR (PCC&StL) branch to Muncie; there it joined with a PRR (CIRR) branch that crossed most of the state in an east-west line, north of Indianapolis.

BUNKER HILL [??], Bunker Hill, Ind., M.P. 182.3

Ref 11, Sheet 6, 1947; 2103x1142, 40K, 200 dpi

Crossing of the PRR and the LE&W line from Michigan City to Indianapolis. The same line crosses the Fort Wayne main line at PLYMOUTH; southward, it crosses the Richmond Branch at Kokomo. Note the interchange track, which apparently was entered via a trailing point crossover. Also note the very large number of modifications for this relatively simple interlocking plant.

ANOKA [??], Anoka, Ind., M.P. 192.8

Ref ..., Sheet ..., 19..; ...x..., ...K, 200 dpi

Eastern approach to Logansport. Here the Richmond Branch (from Richmond, New Castle, Anderson, and Kokomo) joins. The line turns more westward, toward Yard B (see Branches page. After/while passing the yard, the main line turns northward, crosses the Wabash river, and turns westward again.

For additional orientation, see my hand-drawn map of Logansport.

..., Logansport, Ind.

Ref 1, Sheet ..., 19..; ...x..., ...K, 200 dpi

Logansport station is at M.P. 197.7.

Crossing of the PRR Panhandle main to Chicago and the Wabash main from Toledo and Fort Wayne to Decatur, Ill. and west. The main line then proceeds west.

Here is a photograph of Logansport station, scanned by David Dawson.
